Just a quickie for the occasion - aren't they pretty? I'm very proud of them.
I love The Last Unicorn, and when I draw unicorns, they always seem to come out with a similar body type to the unicorn. I try to compensate by making them unique in other ways - hope I've succeeded!
A little interesting note for those who don't have a psychotic obsession with unicorns: his corkskrewed alicorn has a basis in history/myth. According to Middle Eastern folklore, the unicorn, which they called the Karkadann - from a Sanskrit term meaning 'lord of the desert' - had a corkskrewed alicorn that could reach three feet in length.
[EDIT]
Made some major adjustments, and now it's all about family love. Added in a little unicorn foal (or perhaps fawn?) because I thought it would make a nicer composition, and because I just wanted to try doing a baby unicorn. Gave the stallion a pretty major overhaul - improved his mane severely, and changed his markings - I figured that since he's meant to be a karkadann, which is an Arabian unicorn, he ought to have markings inspired by desert and plains ungulates.
Oh my this is really quite lovely. I love the way the hair, their noses, etc. all intertwine. You'd have to be blind to not see the sweet love and tenderness conveyed. Really beautiful work!
And ! The Last Unicorn and Legend were some of my favourite movies as a child. I'm obsessed with them. And thanks for that info! I never knew that before!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
