My half of an art trade with ~goonmann-85 - my Viola in a 1660's style dress with a pair of what I've suddenly decided to call butterfly dragons. This was a ton of fun - I adore drawing Vi!

Notes on the ensemble...

First, her hair. It's "1660's" - please note the quotation marks - because I wasn't about to give her the quintessential 1660's hair. That would be nonsense. However, I found a painting from 1660-something, and in it was a little girl who had her hair styled like this, and I went for that look instead. The dress itself is pretty accurate in cut, although the waist is probably a little too cinched (although Viola definitely has a very natural and pronounced hourglass figure, so maybe it isn't ) and obviously, the Turkish style pattern on the skirt is very unlikely. However, I based Viola's home on my idea of what the Roman Empire might be like if it survived into the 18th century. Therefore, the look of the clothing I'm designing is a mix of Turkish and Italian/French, and I wanted to toss a little nod to that into the mix.
